I bought a 1988 Ford F150 4.9 liter inline 6. It had been sitting for four years. It has 132,087 miles.I got it running, and put about 500 dollars in parts. It has the manual 4 speed with overdrive. It runs like a champ now. The reason it didn’t run, was someone bolted up the negative terminal to the positive on the starter. I’d rather drive this truck for 500 bucks, with 500 in parts, than paying 1000 a month for a 100,000 dollar truck. People are crazy paying that kind of money for a truck.

  1. Toyota is getting out of electrics. Fiskers just went bankrupt (the 2nd EV maker to do so). GM is scaling EV’s back drastically and the Volt is a non-seller. China is running out of space to store all their unsold EV’s… and now, of course, we have this news from Ford. Here in Oregon and northern (real northern, NOT San Fran “northern”) California, they just destroyed 4 hydro-electric dams on the Klamath River, which dams were providing much of the electricity for northern California, even as Gavin Nuisance is trying to force “all electric” cars and appliances on his state (notably, the reason they destroyed the dams was to improve salmon runs – but they screwed it up so badly that they ended up killing over 1,000,000 salmon – incl. 800,000 fingerlings – in doing so, while polluting the Klamath River all the way to the sea, disrupting the offshore salmon fishery off the California coast). And now, less than a couple months after breaching those dams, they discovered that they actually needed that electricity and so the state of Cali-effed-up just had to commit an initial $4 billion in order to replace those same dams. BTW, when Nuisance was elected, California had a $27 Billion budget surplus, but it’s now got a deficit of over $94 Billion (and that’s before this dam replacement cost, which, of course, is unfunded and pure deficit spending). Yeah, EV’s are the future… We know that because China keeps adding coal fired electricity generating plants to keep up with the demand – in fact, they added enough such plants just this last year to negate all the CO2 reductions the USA had achieved over the last 20 years. Good going, folks. Elon Musk will have colonies on Mars before Tesla can make a profit without government subsidies. And don’t get me started on windmills and solar farms – the “bright side” is that those off-shore wind farms are screwing up whale behaviors and migration patterns so badly and killing so many whales that we might soon be able to go back to using whale oil as a fuel. We’ll just harvest the dead whales and dolphins that wash ashore. Good going, enviros.

  2. All I can see is that the engineers of all these EV companies and those running them aren’t as smart as they think they are.
