I love how they avoided saying “pregnant women” and went with “pregnant workers” as if anything but women can be pregnant.

When I worked in China I had a student ask me, “what should I say at a job interview when they ask if I’m married?” Confused, I asked for an explanation and was told, “Chinese companies prefer to hire single women because they don’t want to pay for mandated maternity leave and lost productivity. So, if you say you are married in the interview, you are guaranteed to not be hired.” This law reminds me of that conversation.
