He basically said “I hire on merit but if I feel two people are equally good then I’ll be racist and hire based on colour”. We need to go back to not seeing colour and removing race once and for all.
DEI is not about giving the person the opportunity to apply for any job. If that was the case, then no one would complain about DEI as it just opens the door for more people to interview. The issue with DEI is it requires people to be HIRED to meet a certain quota of representation. When the determination is 50% of all position needs to be filled by woman, then by default you can’t be hiring the very best while also keeping your quota.
