I left California 3 years ago after my husband passed away. My son and his family escaped 3 years before me. They sold everything and moved to Arizona during covid. They moved to have more freedom. Now, I worry that Arizona is being taken over by the evil like California was.
I am a Texan, I married a Californian. We came here in 2016 with plans to move back to Texas by 2017. It’s now 2024 and we can’t leave until my wife’s stepmom passes. My wife made a promise to her dying father. I miss Texas, but God has been good even in California. We are thriving so far. My county’s DA is a conservative Christian, this area is still purple. Let’s kick shifty Schiff, and Nancy’s nephew, narcissistic Newsom OUT of office!
Am born and raised in Calif. I left in 72 and never looked back. Yes its a beautiful state but the people in charge suck. Look what they did to the state.
I was also born and raised in Cal. I left it 2014 right after I returned because of the people who run it it’s way overpriced for everything that can get a buck for the state is completely run down and way to much illegals in the state. I feel that the kids will have a hard time living in California. I won’t go back to that jungle.
The hardworking and patriotic people of California don’t deserve to have a governor and DA’s who are making their lives a living hell and bleeding them dry with taxes and putting up with crime also having an abundance of illegals who get freebies but the people who were born and raised in California are told they have to pay out the nose to live there. Newsom is a scumbag and so is Gasgon. Both are liberal jerkoffs and should be fired immediately.

I traveled California prolifically on business in the early 60s and enjoyed it with few exceptions except for San Francisco, for example. I’m so glad I’m now retired and have no need to visit one of the most corrupt states in the union…and there are others like New York and Chicago for two.
Growing up in Detroit, I ALWAYS aspired to live in California (I “ran away from home” and hitch-hiked to San Francisco when I was 16, in 1970).
With a group of friends that were a few years older than me, I tried to make it a go there again in 1972; lasted 6-mos.
I moved there again in 1975, working as an industrial electrician through 1980. Third time was the charm, or so I thought!
At that time, 1980, some survey was published that 80% of the WORKING PEOPLE in California would NEVER OWN THEIR HOME (I took it to mean, “free and clear of the bank”). Eighty percent (80%) of the working class would be making MONTHLY mortgage or rent payments for the rest of their lives. Broken dreams once more.
Besides “the dream” of living in California, I also “dreamed” of owning my own home__nothing elaborate, but with a yard & a garage/workshop.
That didn’t look like it was ever going to happen, with a basic fixer-upper 900 SF “shack” going starting at $50k in the East Bay (FORGET ANY CHANCE of buying in The City). So about a week before Christmas in 1980, I packed my MGB with all my tools and clothes and watched the California sunset disappear in the rearview mirror.
At this point, I DON’T EVEN want to visit San Francisco, a place I once loved.
Moving to Louisiana allowed me to meet some of the most welcoming and friendly/helpful people in the world. I lived there 20-yrs; owned a couple acres and built myself a 2400 SF shop.
Now, retired in Florida (btw, “welcome Sly”) I’m content to make annual visits to New Orleans & Lafayette, but ZERO plans to visit any state west of Arizona!
